If you are a keen bird watcher or wanting to see the local highland birds such as Ospreys, then you are in luck. We have many bird feeders around our own grounds and these are regularly topped-up to keep attracting the feathered visitors - the record recorded by one chalet guest for one week was 23 species.
The Badenoch and Strathspey area offers some fantastic opportunities for birdwatching enthusiasts. The celebrities of the birdworld here are the ospreys which return annually to the area in the spring to raise their chicks. The RSPB Loch Garten Hide allows visitors an excellent opportunity to view these magnificent birds. Ospreys can also be seen fishing on the various nearby lochs. Another highlight at the RSPB reserve is the springtime Capercaillie Watch.
Slavonian Grebe, Golden Eagles, Black Grouse, Ptarmigan, Crested Tits and Crossbills are among the rarer of the huge variety of bird life in the area although you may not have to go too far to spot the last two as they often visit our grounds to feed along with a wide variety of small birds including Siskins, Bullfinches, Long Tailed Tits and Blue Tits.
